The brands name came from the combination of the two designer’s surnames, Susanne Ostwalk and Ingvar Helgason and was founded only six years ago. Having studied and been born in different geographical locations, (Ostwald was born in Leipzig, Germany and studied at Burg Giebichenstein and Helgason was born in Reykjavik, Iceland and studied in Copenhagen) the pair met in London, where they both worked for Marjan Pejoski.
The London based label focuses on the ‘unexpected detail and subversive use of colour. Using print combined with tactile fabrics and experimental processes’ to create clean, well defined pieces. These elements draw on the two individuals’ interests to create dynamic, highly interesting collections. Having shown at Milk Studios during New York Fashion Week the designers are set to change the fashion scene in a big way.
